No one bought Xbox 360 faceplates says Microsoft

There's a reason why the Slim doesn't support Faceplates.

The Xbox 360 faceplate was something Microsoft wanted to cash in on since many people wanted a customizable option. However for $25 a pop and $15 for third party it was an expensive add on for your 360 but they were very easy to break and at that price, only people who swapped their cases bought them. What about the rest of the world? According to Microsoft no one bought them.

"The idea wasn't bad," Penello said to Official Xbox Magazine. "People used to put faceplates on their cell phones. Rewind five years, faceplates were what everybody wanted to do.

"It turned out nobody bought it. So [we stopped] making them. We killed that one pretty quickly."

Last time I purchased faceplates I paid $5 for each since they were trying to get rid of their inventory. It was a pain when they broke because the consumer has to pay to get a new one compared to other consoles which don't require it there fore you don't need to spend extra money. The part that got ruined fast was the spring flap where you connect any USB device to it. Once it broke it would look ugly with that open space and fixing it was more hard work because you had to find the part.

So if anything I'm glad Microsoft got rid of the faceplates and if you want one go to your local gamestore I'm sure you can get them for $5 or less.
