Activision may close another Studio soon.

And the list of Studios closing their doors continues as Activison keeps shutting them down.

Back in 2007 when Bizzare was acquired by Activision nothing negative could have been said about the studio. Bizarre worked on such titles as Project Gotham Racing 4 and The club as well as a few Geometry War titles. Back in 07 the company said:

"Bizarre isn't a developer in financial trouble, and we're certainly not looking to be 'saved' by a bigger corporation. We're a dev looking to take our games to the next level, and make the absolute best products we can possibly make, Likewise, Activision is not in the business of 'buying out' struggling developers either."

Of course according to British law, if you're going to fire more than 20 employees at once the company must perform a 90 day evaluation. Activison said the following on the company:

"Over the past three years since our purchase of Bizarre Creations, the fundamentals of the racing genre have changed significantly. Although we made a substantial investment in creating a new IP, Blur, it did not find a commercial audience," it was explained. "Bizarre is a very talented team of developers; however, because of the broader economic factors impacting the market, we are exploring our options regarding the future of the studio, including a potential sale of the business."

Bizarre Creations didn't really receive much support from Activision and the lack of Marketing for their games also affected sales of Blur and the recent Bond game Bloodstone which is considered a game that was rushed out. I've heard from friends who used to work at Activision that Activision has a 9 month Dev cycle which means that in 9 months the Developers must have the title ready to ship. This can be seen in a lot of their games. Whether this is true or not is only seen by Activision employees and the quality of the titles plus Koticks statements of milking every game until there's no more juice in them, is entire up to you to decide.
