Best Buy Charging people $30 to update newly purchased PS3's

This is someone what week old news but it's worth a mention. There are people out there who purchase consoles as gifts and those uneducated people can easily fall for these with a few select words from the sales associate. Best Buy will charge you $30 to update a newly purchased PS3 for a low fee of $30. That can buy you a Greatest Hit game if you want to compare it to that.

This is definitely a bad idea and you should educate those people around you about this scam as updating your PS3 is easy an pain free. I've had a run in with Best Buy's geek squad before where they wanted to charge an extra $230 for a laptop just because they have removed all the extra software an what not. I just gave them the finger and went to a different best buy to purchase an un-tampered laptop for it's original price.

Remember these services also mean that someone else got to open your new console before you did. Do you really want that???
