Some people out there are thinking that game reviewers will automatically give Wii games a lower score automatically because it's the Wii. Let me give you an insight on why that is not true.
So if there is a game across all platforms the Wii get a much lower score than it's PS3 and 360 counterparts. Is it because whoever is reviewing the game hates the Wii version? Not exactly. Whether it is a game like NBA, NFL, Racing, or just a regular adventure game there are always problems with the Wii. The main problem is the motion controller and the graphics. That on top of whether hardcore gamers will like the game or not will play a much higher role on deciding the score for the game.
If you take any game that is across all platforms you will notice that the game is scaled down, features are removed and graphics are downsized. So take all that into consideration and the score is lowered when compared to others. Now it is true that it is unfair when comparing Wii games to the powerhouses that are the PS3 and Xbox 360 but if you have a Wii and a PS3 or 360 ask yourself this: Would you pay $50 for a Wii game or would you fork over an extra $10 to get the same game with better graphics, features and better controls?
What you also have to think is what the consumer will buy. The Wii is just aimed at casual players and while it is bringing in a lot of money to Nintendo you have to ask yourself who else does it bring money to? Every time you go to gamestop you will always see Wii games that are $20 or less but the only games that hold true value are Nintendo games. Xbox 360 and PS3 games sell millions of copies if the game is great. Even 3rd party developers are cashing in on them but when you compare them to Wii titles, I can't think of any 3rd party developer that has actually passed the million mark and even if they did there aren't that many.
So if you are a Nintendo Fan Boy and think that game reviewers are giving Wii games low scores its not because we want to. It's because when compared to what the other consoles have, it's better to get the other versions of the game than the Wii Version.
