Ubisoft doubtful on PS3/360 10 year life cycle.

Sony has always planned a 10 year life cycle with the PS3 and Microsoft hopes for another 5 years extra with the release of Kinect this November but Ubisoft's European MD Alain Corre said: “I don't think so, no.

"Yes, it's a good extension of the lifecycle for a certain length of time and it's also a good way to capture some consumers they didn't have on the casual side, because Microsoft's 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 do not have the casual customers. So it will bring in a new category of customer for them.

"Now, will it prevent them from releasing brand new technology in the next five years? I don't think so," he added.

Each console has a 5 to 6 year lifecycle except for the Xbox which only had a 4 year cycle, and it is about that time that game companies start announcing what they have been working on but so far almost nothing has been mentioned from anyone except Nintendo's 3DS.

While Microsoft and Sony may release a new console I believe that the 360 and PS3 are still going to be supported in terms of software but it seems that both consoles are getting their life started as developers tap into that Power.

I've never played Crisis and don't have money to invest on a High end gaming computer which can range in the $ thousands so in terms of graphics I don't know how far graphics can reach but I do know that Uncharted 2 was a graphically good looking game and Mass Effect 2 is also a great looking game on the 360 for what it can do.

I think that Ubisoft is wrong in their statement unless they know something we don't and don't want to say or spoil anything for what the other companies want to announce. If nothing is announced by next year's E3 then we can expect both consoles to stay for another 5 more years.
