Why I Prefer Best Buy Over GameStop

But not over Amazon.

A few months ago, It would have been the anniversary where I hadn't bough anything at BestBuy for over 4 years. Their policies were just plain stupid and the sales reps didn't know what they were talking about.

Today Their policies are a little better and their reps still don't know what they're talking about. But none of that concerns me as a gamer. Best Buy has some of the best trade in offers as well as promotions which has forced me to actually buy from Best Buy.

I used to buy all my games at GameStop however I got sick and tired of them always telling me to renew my membership. I have bought a few games from GameStop and its always the same question over and over again. Granted I know that their reps do have a quota to meet. But if I haven't renewed my rewards card in the past few years why would I renew it now.

GameStop still has some great sales however for the common folk who don't want to fork over $14 for a pro membership and a digital copy of Game Informer (what happened to the physical copies?) then your choices are limited. The Buy 2 Get 1 free on pre-owned games, one of my favorite sales is now only reserved to Pro Members. I went in to a gamestop store and spent over 2 hours looking for some games that I would enjoy playing. I picked up a total of 9 games and when I went to check out they told me it's only for Pro Members. I just said ok then and walked out of the store.

My go to place to purchase games has always been Amazon but I also check several stores first. Amazon does have some great offers on games most of the time and every now and then they do have a Buy 2 Get 1 Free on new video games. You can trade in games on Amazon but sometimes it's better to sell the games yourself on their amazon store. Amazon doesn't have any special offers on used games or trade ins. Amazon is still my go to place for games because sometimes you can get a newer game pre-owned for less than $30 bucks compared to $50 on other stores.

However I do feel that best buy is making a dent on my amazon purchases. Best Buy won't have the widest selection of pre-owned games in store but at least you don't have to join any type of membership in order to enjoy their special offers.

That's the reason I prefer BestBuy Over Gamestop when it comes to purchasing Video Games. Their reps may not know much but I can't give full credit to gamestop either because a lot of their reps don't know much about video games either.

This is my personal opinion but i'd thought I'd share it with you if you're looking to shop somewhere else besides gamestop.
