A bit outdated but people we still purchasing up to recently. Sony has decided to pull the plug on it's walkman player which made it's debut in 1979. A reference of the tape player can be also found in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker for the PSP during the beginning and explains that it is the first of it's kind by Sony.
Although the tape players are discontinues the walkman name continues to be used in their line of MP3 players and I'm sure we will be seeing other products with the walkman name.
