Sega Celebrating Sonic's 20th Anniversary.

It's still unknown how Sega plans to do this.

Since 1991, Sonic has been entertaining gamers across the world across multiple platforms. It all started with Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic CD and so on.

When Sega made it's transition to develop for all platforms, Sonic made the transition as well however it has all been downhill from then on with several different titles that could not capture Sonic's true glory. There were releases on the PS3/360 as well as Wii Exclusives which made use of the Wii-Mote which was pure garbage. Sega tried to take Sonic back to it's roots with Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for the iOS as well as a Downloadable game for the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360. However this wasn't the game many Sonic fans have been waiting for.

It wasn't until Sonic Colors, which took Sonic back to it's roots of only focusing on Sonic that Sega got a hit. Sonic Colors was only released last year but it doesn't technically count as a title for Sonic's 20th anniversary. With 2011 here Sonic has finally turned 20 but nothing has been mentioned as to what Sega plans to do. Besides a Japanese website that talks about all of Sonic's games there has been no new game announcement from Sega or what they plan to do. Of course the year has only started to Sega has a 12 month window to announce something or release a Sonic.

If you wish to relive the glory day's with Sonic, I recommend checking out: Sonic's Mega Collection Plus on the PS2, or downloading Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on your iOS device. If you have a Wii check out Sonic Colors which is an awesome game. There's also Sega's new website PlaySega, which allows you to play all of Sonic's past games including Sonic The Hedgehog 3 with Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 featuring Knuckles. Of course there's also Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on the PS3 and Xbox 360 for $20 which has Sonic 1, 2, and 3 in HD.
