THQ focusing more on Original IP's

It's about time.

THQ has been developing Licensed titles for a long time from Nickelodeon on games such as SpongeBob, The fairy OddParents, etc. They did OK for a few years but with the Wii sitting in people's living room gathering dust and PS3/360 only aimed at core and hardcore gamers, those titles just sit on store shelves. THQ has now made it official that it will work on it's own original IP's and focus less on Licensed titles.

"We are curtailing some of our investments in the younger licensed products; those are the things that are not working as well as they used to," said THQ CEO Brian Farrel as he spoke at the Credit Suisse 2010 Technology Conference

"But the real win in the industry and for us is that we think there's significant value creation will come from owned IP like Homefront, like uDraw, like Red Faction, like Saint's Row,"
