It seems that Nintendo is becoming the Apple of the gaming industry.
With Apple people will shell out huge amounts of cash to purchase an Apple product just because it's Apple regardless of how bad the economy is. Nintendo is not too far behind when it comes to this concept of charging their customers premium for outdated technology case and point the Wii which uses last generations technology but added a new motion control system and charges $250 now $200 for said technology.
Now comes the 3DS which is this great piece of machinery that allows you to play full 3D games without the need for glasses and even though it doesn't cost much to manufacture Nintendo is charging an arm and a leg for the device.
Nintendo released the price point and the availability for the 3DS handheld system and if you're looking to play it this Christmas, well you're out of luck. Nintendo plans to release the 3DS at the end of February in Japan with a price point of $295 after conversion. No word yet as to when an American release is planned but it shouldn't be too far off and the price point can range from $250 to $350 in US shores. Why not $300? Nintendo prices their technology based on the region and while we could celebrate that the 3DS will cost $250, we could easily be paying $300 and up to $350 if Nintendo decides to price it that high, after all they are a business and if they could get your money they will. Sound familiar?
